A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors ★★½

If A Nightmare on Elm Street 2 isn't as scary as the film that kicked off the long-running horror franchise, it justified its existence with blatant homoeroticism and a sense of bloody creativity. Having reached the third installment, I worry that the law of diminishing returns has already taken hold. Although young Patricia Arquette and Larry Fishburne are on board and considerably outacting their co-stars, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is so cheesy and low-rent that it cannot be taken seriously. Gone are quality pacing, palpable terror and seemingly any set of rules by which Freddy Krueger must abide. The kills are still fun, but the bar has been lowered.
