Evil Dead II

Evil Dead II ★★★★★

something about seeing the laughing living room sequence on the big screen just makes the cinematic grandeur of Raimi’s magnum-opus inexplicably eclipsing of all previous viewings—there is simply nothing quite like it, especially when being surrounded by both cult fans and first-timers who howl and wince all alike. the horror comedy that cannot ever be outdone, and a true testament to the efficiency of low-quality manic-panic as a vessel for nervous laughter as comic relief, genuine laughter as hilarity realized, and bloodied terror as central vortex that swallows the soul whole.
