shang-chi and the legend of the ten rings is a pretty good standalone film. the action sequences are impressive, the hand to hand combats are well choreographed, the cgi is fantastic, the setpieces are amazing, and the story is compelling. i love the fight scenes, all are smoothly and delicately executed. that scaffolding battle is stressful as fuck, my fear of heights could never. the big cgi climatic battle at the end is fascinating, i enjoyed it so much, specially with all the dragons and stuffs. all the performances are commendable, simu liu and tony leung are both very good, awkwafina is good except for her one-liners. xialing and ying nan are both empowering characters, they are so great in the battlefield, delicate yet badass. meng'er zhang and michelle yeoh really gave justice to their roles. all in all, the film is substantially good, and fun most of the time. kudos to marvel for introducing the first asian superhero. an asian representation at last.
