It cannot be overstated how much we needed this movie, especially right now. It pretty much says everything that needs to be said but not once did it feel preachy to me. I was just so attached to these characters that it's impossible not to be moved by what they've been through and what they're still going through now.
I think I'm in the minority on this but I actually thought the first half of the movie was the strongest. It may be slow but there were so many powerful moments for each character and everything just fell into place beautifully.
I still really enjoyed the second half but that's where it got messy for me. There's some phenomenal moments in there and it can be incredibly tense at times, but there's also times when it just lost momentum for me a bit, especially in terms of characterisation.
But it's definitely a great movie and probably my second favourite of the year. The performances, directing and writing are all excellent and the messages contained are going to really move a lot of people.
