While it does still run into similar problems that most of Disney’s live-action remakes have, The Little Mermaid surprisingly is one of the stronger ones we have had thus far. It retains the heart and fun of the original while not trying to replicate it beat for beat and actually does dive a bit deeper into some things only briefly touched upon beforehand. Namely, when it comes to the relationship of Ariel and Eric, we really get to see these…

Sanctuary 2022
While it may not have been as bonkers and off the walls as I expected going in Sanctuary is still an expertly crafted highly riveting and often downright hysterical film that is easily one of the most original of its kind. It consists of two powerhouse performances from Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbot who prove how effective two-handers can be when both are putting their fullest effort into it and add so many layers to these complex characters as they…

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2018
My god I forgot how electrifying and triumphant this film is. Such a expertly crafted film that beyond how much it blows you away with its truly game changing visuals and plethora of animation styles still is so endlessly compelling and gets so much development for each character present. It’s one of the best of its kind for sure and the thought of it somehow being surpassed by its next entry has me absolutely salivating to see it and thankfully tomorrow…

Alone at Night 2022
I don’t know who had the bright idea to combine a movie about Ashley Benson making an OnlyFans esque account and getting stalked by a killer with Paris Hilton hosting some reality show about people during Covid trying to date but it was a really stupid decision because my god the way they try and fail miserably to correlate this. Coupled with such horrible acting from nearly everyone and such predictable reveals and constant tonal inconsistencies throughout it is by far one of the worst things I’ve seen in a long time. Nearly unwatchable.

Parental Leave 2020
Regardless of how little I’ll remember this film overall, the significance of why I watched it is something that will always stick with me and I feel is far more important overall. For this reason alone I’m choosing to do something I normally don’t and leave this film without a rating. We all lost one of the most passionate and genuine users in this community. Eli had a real future as a filmmaker and it’s incredibly tragic that he’s no longer with us. We’ll all miss him dearly. R.I.P indeed
