5 stars for the experience of watching this to Waypoint commentary, 2 stars for the actual film (outside of the baseball scene).

I watched this with friends and we all thought it was super fun, but later I felt the urge to rewatch it by myself (we had talked too much during certain scenes) and ended up having an even deeper appreciation for the writing and performances. I’m not a HUGE Austen fan, but I’ve seen a ton of adaptations of P&P as a former English major / general fan of romances, and the characterizations here are all top-notch. The soundtrack is also amazing / that MUNA cover is sure to be on repeat for the rest of the year.

It's so nice and calming to see comedy performed by someone who is actively happy.

(Although I must give a TW for sexual assault).

This short film from 1984 by Jane Campion is still shockingly relevant today. The way that we shame and silence survivors has not changed since the 80s, as is the way that women are often complicit in the mistreatment and gaslighting of other women.
