The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse ★★½

Currently, a little unsure as to how I feel about this, and I think it’s making me feel much the same way I did after seeing Midsommar. Madness and actually being/feeling alone even when you’re around people is a funny thing for both of these filmmakers.  It’s moody, and so visually stirring, but there are times where I wondered whether the references to things like Prometheus were enough for me. It also reminded me of Bergman’s Persona?

But Dafoe and Pattinson are having such a good time here - they’re not holding back at all. So time will tell how I end up feeling about this! It’s weird for something that I thought was going to be weird and it surely has its surreal moments that I thought this was going to weirder?
