Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★½

The performances practically drive this film– from Daniel Kaluuya to Lakeith Stanfield to Dominque Fishback, each of whom bring something unique and compelling to their respective roles, adding extra layers of depth to the characters and story. Although I would've appreciated a deeper exploration of O'Neil's relationship with the Panthers and Hampton himself (which would've further heightened the drama), Shaka King infuses the material with enough gravitas and genuine tragedy that it ultimately works for me anyway.
