So... I ended up walking in probably 2-3 minutes after the start of the film. I saw some of the opening scene, just not all of the build-up. That being said, I had no trouble getting sucked into the world that Abbasi created. The mood was so effectively established from the get-go and it made the story all the more compelling.

Rewatch confirms this is the scariest movie I have ever seen. Hadn't planned on seeing it again so soon, but Matthew was interested in catching it in theaters, and I couldn't turn that down. It really says something about a film that manages to be wholly unique and more effective than just about anything else in the genre. Matthew also feels it's the scariest movie he's seen thus far and so he really liked it too.
