    for now: immensely impressive in its collage-like use of mixed media in its anachronistic tale of artistic freedom, a summation of Yuasa’s ever-transforming stylistic interests that also turns out to be somewhat elegiac in how it ties in with the end of his time leading Science Saru, depending on what’s next, I suppose.

    Avu-chan and Moriyama’s vocals are absolutely out-of-this-world stunning, but for me the magic of the theatre sequences is those little touches…
