Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit ★★★★

Taika Waititi takes the generic cinematic conventions and blows them away into air. He pushes the boundaries of story-telling by fusing rip roaring absurdities in an outright tragedy while also ensuring that we care for the characters and their ambitious grapple to find identity, inclusivity and freedom in the cold heartlands of Germany during World War 2.

Do not mistake it for anything else, Jojo Rabbit is a scathingly biting anti-hate rant disguised beneath an ingeniously clever screenplay. It has a ginormous heart underneath the piles of irreverent humor, thumping ceaselessly with optimism, love and cognizance of loss.
