"You could have a kitchen like this someday. It costs dearly. Home always does."

Not sure why, but this has always registered as a forgettable Spielberg movie in my mind. Maybe because it's not held up as a legend for any of its stars, or blockbuster potential, or awards recognition, or any sort of extra-textual element that would have pinned it to any sort of cultural phenomenon. Finally watching it, I understand even less why this isn't heralded as one…

The backstory and motive of the killer is really good, IDGAF what anyone says. At least you know why hes doing this and you're like well I think I understand. The kills are great, theres gratuitous nudity and there's laughs. Theres also a montage. This is fun 80's schlock.

Too dumb to understand this. Said as much out loud when the movie ended and my friends confidently explained the synopsis, and I literally did not pick up on any of it. Felt like I was listening to freeform jazz only to have the lights come on and see everybody crying. It sure felt like a nice movie though! Everyone’s just bringing their A game here. Buckley is such a talent, and Toni Collette is one of the funniest actors we…

147 minutes of watching directors, actors, cinematographers and producers be unashamedly passionate about film is genuinely one of the most wonderful feelings for me

When you go to film school, you will inevitably meet that freshman student who says “Spielberg is overrated and his movies are too mainstream and sentimental.”

Please force that pretentious douche to watch this great documentary.

Another classic that I've just never gelled with. There's quite a bit I do love about the movie. I love how mean and twisted it is, I love a lot of the ideas, I think it blends fantasy and horror better than a lot of its familiars. I love that little monster in the nightmare hallway. Some incredible makeup the whole way through.

I'm not sure what it is about it that prevents me from liking it more than I…
