I'm giving this an extra half star because I geeked the fuck out. I've wanted John Krasinski as Reed Richards for years now, and from the second Christine said Baxter Foundation I was holding my breath and crossing my fingers. And the stretching looks okay! Also, Anson Mount as Black Bolt was pretty cool, I hope his character can get a soft reboot into the MCU. I'm also glad that Patrick Stewart had as small a role as he did - I'll give this inclusion a pass as an 'encore' to his send-off in Logan, and I'll say thank you for the yellow wheelchair and the 90's theme, but please let that portrayal rest.
Otherwise, this was decent. I really like this theme of 'how much awful shit can we have Wanda do while still having her be a fan favourite?' going on at Marvel, and they seem to be embracing the notion that Doctor Strange is a piece of shit at heart, which is fun! Sam Raimi definitely does his thing and it's great, and Pizza Poppa is fantastic, but the parts where Marvel's team took the reigns are really noticeable (not to mention show off some of Marvels worst CGI to date). Anyway, it was fun.
See you in Ant-Man 3, John! Bring Emily please.
