    Runaway Train

(The Average Joe’s Movie Club Cast)

Two convicts have been dreaming of running towards freedom, but the one problem they have now is there is no way to stop!

"Boy, I guess you guys picked the wrong train."

I spotted Runaway Train on the top of a list of the most underrated movies on 1985, and was even more intrigued about it since it was one of the movies Akira Kurosawa wrote but was unable to get made. While the…

    Hail, Caesar!

(The Average Joe’s Movie Club Cast)

"Would that it were so simple?"

A delightful little romp from the Coens, that pokes fun at the golden age of Hollywood. Hail, Caesar! is a solid mid-tier movie from Ethan and Joel Coen, but I would be curious to see how much more of Alison Pill, Scarlett Johansson, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum we would get in an extended version.

    Thanks for reading.
    Happy movie watching ... SkΓ₯l! 🍻

    The Lego Movie

Now that's how you make a toy commercial!

"All I'm asking for is total perfection."

Ever since I finally noticed The Lego Movie was just a Matrix clone, it's been hard not just dwell on that as we watch simple little Emmet on his quest to become a master builder and stop Lord Business from super gluing the Lego Universe together. But pushing that aside, the first Lego Movie has so much more to offer as the world of lego…

  • Twister

    (Summer Blockbuster Series 2022)

After all these years ... Twister still blows me away!

"Ha Ha! It's the wonder of nature, baby!"

Each time I revisit Twister I am reminded just how ridiculously cheesy it is, but I could care less. We get plenty of the usual trappings of big dumb action disaster movies like a love triangle, the expert who says they are coming back for just one last ride, obvious over the top acting, and a big money-driven…

    Ghostbusters: Afterlife

    (RIP Harold Ramis: 1944 - 2014)

Dusting off those old Proton Packs to honor the past, and look to the future.

"I will always be a Ghostbuster."

I did not come into Ghostbusters: Afterlife with any expectations, and as a long-time fan of the franchise it was so exciting to see the story continued like this. The movie takes us out to the middle of nowhere where Egon Spengler was preparing for the final stage of Gozer's
    apocalypse. But when…

    Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

An all new Spiderman comes into his own as Marvel and Sony unleash the Spider-Verse!

"Wow, that is one hardcore origin story kid."

The dazzling pages of a comic book come to life in this highly unique and imaginative animated film. For so long I have wanted to see a Spiderman movie that was not handcuffed to the constraints of a simple hero story and one or two villains. And Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse delivers that and much more as…
