SXSW 2021 - Film #13
Megan Park’s directorial debut is a wholly authentic portrayal of a teenager coming to terms with a traumatic experience. It gracefully examines how one processes trauma in the midst of experiencing the ups and downs of coming of age. Park explores these ideas in such a way that audiences of all ages can deeply connect with it. I think Jenna Ortega gives one of the best performances I’ve seen all year here in a film that, while undoubtedly flawed, is still quite moving.
