Lovers Rock is a wholly refreshing change of pace from the incessant misery of McQueen’s previous works and a stunning showcase of his incandescent & truly electrifying filmmaking. It’s a sixty minute joyous celebration of culture and community that unabashedly embraces the small wonders of life. It would make for a perfect double bill with Denis’ U.S. Go Home and is such a delightful experience.
