"They don't have anything to say" - Brandon,
Fassbender and Mulligan both kill it.
A man crippled by his obsession with sex gets a visit from his troubled sister and life gets complicated. This is a film with almost no overt text regarding its purpose or intent. The subtext, however, speaks volumes about the lifelong difficulty that people have coping with trauma from adolescence. You are presented with two fractured people, but no origin story, simply seeing the awkward and damaging practices that some loosely identified background created. It's an excellent film that puts problematic and dangerous coping mechanisms on display with beautiful camerawork.
