Even watched the whole intermission.... because I'm a cinephile.
3 Quick Thoughts.... and a Question.... and a conclusion.
(1) I watched this with someone who thought the movie was just fine and it got me thinking about why it is rated so highly. I believe the reason that Seven Samurai is one of the highest rated films ever made is that (a) it can be appreciated, and respected, on multiple levels of analysis (b) there is a selection bias as to who watches it due to length and subtitles.
-- QUESTION: Why do you think it is rated so highly?
(2) This is somewhere, in my opinion, between Kurosawa's third to seventh best film, and that's just from what I've seen..... HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE? HE's SO FUCKING GREAT.
(3) Toshiro Mifune is one of the hottest and coolest actors to ever exist.
Yes, you should watch this.... even if you hate it now you know you have bad taste hahahah, and you can say you watched it.
