"You're gonna need this.... tread lightly blood" -Some Guy,
We need this movie. A rare film that actually identifies and tackles white supremacy in a direct and interesting way. The story is important and gives proper context to Fred Hampton's important and norm-shattering story. Shaka King's direction is slick, especially for a relative newcomer and Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield are so damn good in this that it ALMOST overshadows the film. I feel like the movie has some minor pacing issues here and there and could be a bit more adventurous stylistically but overall these are minor issues with a film that should be and will be celebrated.
It's very good.
