the first half was a movie selling us the idea the possibilities were endless, the second half was a movie settling into something expected. cool, fun, interesting, but expected. and i couldn’t help but feel like sam raimi’s style was washed out, making some scenes feel more like a clash of art styles rather than a free and creative exploration of aesthetics.
