Waiting for "Superman"

Waiting for "Superman" ★★★½

A well made documentary that is very informative and eye opening to a lot of problems with the Educational System of the US. It has emotional stories alongside statistics and facts.

On the other hand.....

I can see why a lot of people don’t like it.

It is one dimensional and one sided. It doesn’t stray from its viewpoints. If it is not of your viewpoint, there is no way for you to connect.

Most of the movie just furthered what we already know. It shows that things are bad, and it shows how things got bad. Because of this, when it finally does try to supply answers/solutions at the end, it just feels like it falls a little flat.

Don’t get me wrong. It is an important and enjoyable documentary. I remember when it came out and everyone was talking about it, which was good.

But 10 years later, in the year 2020, not much has changed and it was sad revisiting the film, knowing that anyone who was affected by the impact had probably forgot about it and gone about their own way.

That’s a shame....

Because it’s such an important topic that we really need to revisit it. We need to take the facts from this, and update it, or argue it better in a way that people can’t ignore it.

Worth the watch, and definitely a necessary conversation. Just wish it helped create more answers, and that change could actually happen.
