Losing Ground

Losing Ground ★★★★

Ever since I first saw this, it’s become my private little joke, whenever someone asks me what I’m working on, to say “I’m doing research for a paper on ecstatic experience.” But no one I know in real life has seen this film, so the privacy of the joke becomes ever more compounded, which has had the curious effect of making the joke become kind of true. When thinking about a feeling can only get you so far, and you’re left waiting for the thing itself. "What's the purpose of the scene?" "Something to do with the relationship between the characters, the space, the light." When what feels like losing ground might actually amount to finding a meaningful place to stand. “And when it feels right, blow him away.”
