I’m a sucker for a comedic genre epic that takes itself gravely serious. This was a lot of fun.

If there’s a remake, may they not make old elves stand nude in front of the underaged protagonist.

I didn’t love it the first time... plot gaps got in the way. But second time around... damn. I really enjoyed the ride. The creature effects are straight up unsettling. I’m a sucker for the tone. Weta FX knocked this outta the damn park. 

If anyone can tell me how a major studio (Universal) can greenlight an original genre horror/comedy at this budget level, askin for a friend...
