Josh Lempert’s review published on Letterboxd:
There’s still hope for original blockbusters!
Knives Out is a lot of different things, but it’s fantastic in every regard.
A gripping whodunnit, a laugh out loud comedy, and a chilling thriller. Rian Johnson is cementing himself as a top director in the game right now, if he hasn’t already.
All of the performances are excellent. It’s so refereshung to see a lot of these actors playing outside their type, more specifically Toni Collette and Chris Evans. As much as I love Captain America, it’s so nice to see Chris Evans doing something else, and doing it so well.
A lot of people have been saying this is the most fun at the movies all year, and they’re probably right. I booked another ticket for this within 10 minutes of it ending. If that doesn’t tell you how much I liked it, I don’t know what will.
