Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ★★★★★

Obviously.

Still so much fucking fun, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is easily one of the best entries into the MCU. It's hilarious, full of heart, great performances and is just so damn entertaining. Things get pretty dark too as we see Peter find out the truth about his heritage and Nebula reveals what it was like growing up in competition with Gamora. So while there are plenty of jokes to make this feel like a Guardians film, there are themes running through the film that certainly make it feel as if something is at stake. The soundtrack is utilised to perfection, from the excellent opening credits sequence that sees Baby Groot dance to Mr. Blue Sky to the moment Yondu, Rocket and Groot escape captivity to the tune of Come A Little Bit Closer, James Gunn just knows which songs suit each character and scene. I love this just as much as the first film and I certainly cannot wait to see the Guardians meet the rest of the MCU. It's going to be wild.
