Dear 2022, can you PLEASE stop killing off people who worked on this movie??? RIP to Jacques Perrin, Jean-Louis Trintignant, and Irene Papas.

The scene where Short Round pulls out the pin from the voodoo doll to let Indy finally defeat the big guard never fails to get me simultaneously relieved and excited.

Sure, some of the effects look a little dated, but this is still a wild and fun adventure. I forgot how it constantly finds new ways to put the trio in so much danger; the suspense is absolutely intense in the second half. I kind of wished I hadn't been so freaked out by Mola Ram's rituals and the Maharajah's dinner as a kid, but I'm ok now. haha

BEST PICTURE WINNERS COUNTDOWN: THE FINISH LINE

This came out the same year as Sunset Blvd. and is also as sharp in its commentary, and vicious in its dialogues between the characters. From one Joseph to another, you make me proud, Mr. Mankiewicz. Maybe a tad long, but those last 15 minutes are perfection.

AND WITH THAT, I have now seen all the Best Picture Oscar winners!!

That upside-down shot of Batman approaching the Penguin after the car chase with the flames in the background and Batman's cape in the wind is one of my new favorite shots in a comic book film.
