A fitting tribute for the late Chadwick Boseman. In my opinion, the movie’s only major flaw was the antagonist. The “villain” of this film is Namor who seems like a less interesting version of Aquaman.
However, touching emotional moments in this film make me forget about how Namor bores me to tears when he is on screen.
Pleasantly surprised by this I was expecting a typical January PG-13 “horror” movie. Instead I found myself invested in the story and main character of this admittedly silly horror-comedy thriller.
I was going to rate this 3.5 stars but took .5 stars off for the doll singing. That was cringe.
There’s a lesson to be learned: don’t go to a strange wedding on a different continent with someone you have met for literally 30 seconds. You might be a lead character of a boring ass vampire movie.
This film to me, while visually breathtaking, was probably the most boring film I’ve ever seen. It felt like long exposition and just an unnecessary prelude to another film. It felt comparable to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace where there is just a bunch of talking about space politics that nobody cares about, but Dune does not have a Darth Maul to save us from boredom. Instead we are stuck staring at our watches wondering when this movie will finally end and we can do something more exciting: like watching paint dry.
