While I watched this, I kept thinking back to this interview with James Gunn, where he explained that he thinks superheroes are the dumbest thing ever, and that there's an undeniable silliness to them, but he's not making fun of them, he believes that the silliness is what makes them real. The Suicide Squad isn't just another generic Summer Blockbuster, it actually has a heart. It's hard to explain why I think a movie with a talking shark is actually…

"This city isn't yours. This city isn't ours. This city is theirs."

The Suicide Squad, this film feels like it was made for me. I love comfort movies, but I also love gory comedies and this fits right into both categories. This movie presents its more complex themes in such a simple way, and it not only makes for some really good comedy, it also makes for some really beautiful moments. I'm glad this film really embraces itself, it's just…

James Bond makes a guy inflate like a giant balloon until he literally explodes. There's alligators being jumped on to get to one point to another. The bad guy tries to feed James Bond to blood thirsty sharks. There's an epic car/boat chase that lasts for about 15 minutes, and an amazing train fight sequence at the end. How could I not love this?

"My easy-going nature is gettin' sorely fuckin' tested."

This is my type of movie. Guts spilling out like hamburger helper, slugs crawling into peoples mouths, gruesome alien sex and Michael Rooker! The entire movie is just a giant homage to the horror genre, and it's all played out in such a juvenile/punk way. The Hitchcockian protagonist, the epic 70's science fiction score, the Cronenberg like body horror, the small town atmosphere and millions of horror refrences make this so delightful.…

This is probably the best MCU movie we've gotten since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, because it feels like it was actually made with passion and care, with a strong emotional core and thematic relevance. You could really tell this was a Sam Rami movie from start to finish, and it reminded me a lot of his other work, including 'Drag me to Hell' suprisingly. The tortured protagonist story most Rami films follow worked really well here, which created a…

This is just as good as everyone is saying it is, but possibly even better. It's one of the most beautifully absurd movies I've seen in a while, it's able to connect to anyone and everyone, it's kind, and painful, but beautiful. There's so much passion put into everything happening, not just from a filmmaking stand point, but you can really see there's something personal put into every shot. Seeing this in a theater full of people brought me so…
