This movie is a marvel. It's the flick I bring up anytime I'm asked what's an underrated horror film. It's Romero at his most artistic. It has the demented loner-killer vibe much like Taxi Driver and Maniac, mixed with the possible supernatural element. Keeping the supernatural-vampire mystery, only betters the film. I bounce back and forth while watching, if I believe him to be a vampire or not. I know he and his uncle absolutely believe he is a vampire.…

John Carpenter has a careers worth of underrated gems. In my worthless opinion, this is his most underrated flick. It stands shoulder to shoulder in quality and in frights with other beloved horror classics. Yet, I could mention this to my close friends and family, and I know they would never have heard of this horror masterpiece.

I love how this film dives head first into the doom and gloom synthesizer riff with a back and forth between scenes and…

Many folks and myself have often used the words dream-logic to describe movies like Phantasm, The Beyond and basically anything by David Lynch. These films often feel slightly askew from the real world and include moments of pure nightmare fuel. Well, this here film is dream-logic in a literal since. It feels disjointed like the aforementioned films, but it's done so with pure intention. Ben has began to have nightmares and his dream world starts to meld into the real…

Just an instantly engaging flick. I love the quite intensity of Driver and his opening sequence. His getaway drive is so intense, but he’s so very calm. Something about this opening job that he pulls off successfully and then morphs into the hot-pink lettering of the opening credits, all backed by the amazing track Nightcall by Kavinsky, just gives me a release of dopamine to the ol’ noggin. It’s purely cinematic and I get such a rush from it.

A Science-fiction, body horror, timeless, MASTERPIECE. I can not get enough of this movie. I already want to watch it again and that is a very rare feeling for me. I bought the Scream Factory blu-ray and am loving every bit of this restoration and all the glorious extras. Just buying movies again is something I've been enjoying. I really like to support a piece of art that means a lot to me.

I know Ennio Morricone did the original…

What an ominous and ambient horror experience. This film feels like a meditation that slowly grows in intensity. The way Carpenter fills spaces with the nature of California as it’s back drop to fill the spaces between dialogue and action is just impeccable. The scenery may feel like the biggest star of the film to me. The tone of the Autumn beach fills and says way more than any dialogue.

I noticed something very interesting to me on this viewing. Every…
