The Academy Award for Best Picture is considered the most important Oscar, as it represents all the directing, acting, music composing, writing, editing and other efforts put forth into a single production.

... Usually however, the old white men of the Academy just give it to whatever generic period-drama based on true events is the safest and least ambitious effort released the previous December ;-)
