The last Marvel film I watched in the cinema was 'Avengers: Endgame'. Did it feel good to be back? Sadly not.
The MCU's latest offering is about as generic as they come. It's the superhero origin story formula we've all seen a million times before trundled out for another tired, wheezy attempt held together by a wafer-thin plot. Sadly the humour didn't tickle me up the right way and the emotional beats didn't grab me by the mouth as much I would've hoped for.
Ben Kingsley is fantastic as he reprises the role of Trevor Slattery and shares the screen with some bizarre animal concoction. Some of the action scenes were pretty decent but some were laughably bad like the big bombardment of CGI that the third act ended up being.
I think Marvel's best stuff can now found in the Disney+ shows where they really experiment and push the boat out, if you catch my drift.
