    Every so often I rewatch this and find myself wishing they put a Stalaggh soundtrack over this. God kills himself to the screams of the insane.

    The images are at times beautiful to look at in their slimy earthiness. The film is gross in the way nature is gross and uncaring. This is no fetishization of isolation in the wildness, it is disgusting. The text and hyper-religious symbolism seems explicitly meant to obscure the interesting erotics of nature, care, and decay.

    The images are the message in the same way that sentences can be arguments and perhaps they need not "say" anything but merely hint obliquely at ideas. Erotic in a troubling but not arousing way.
