    Nightmare Alley

I would pay an ungodly amount of money to watch Cate Blanchett do that for a full two hours and nothing else.

  • The Matrix Resurrections

    The Matrix Resurrections

You can tell how close to her heart Lana holds these characters and that love and tenderness shows.

A fun ride that could have benefited from clearer action scenes, I was pining for the fights of the earlier movies, but still a blast.

  • Eternals

Eternals is dazzling, gorgeously shot, and (in a large departure from the MCU) actually interesting!

This is what I want Marvel to give me, even if it’s not perfect. Give me something ambitious.

The traditional marvel humor is there (unfortunately), but the rest of it mostly really worked for me. I loved seeing actually representative characters and loved seeing this movie try and cover the scope and span it does.

It’s far from perfect, but it is even farther from deserving “worst reviewed MCU”. Iron Man 3 is right there. And Age of Ultron. And Guardians of the Galaxy 2. And so on.

  • Candyman

The number of shots of that man touching his bee sting should be illegal, it made me want to crawl out of my own skin.

Excellent from start to finish. The score and cinematography stand out in particular to create a bone chilling and tense atmosphere.

  • Gunpowder Milkshake

I, too, would like to be a gay librarian assassin.
