  Tackling identity and issues of relationships and communication (mainstays for Yorgos), Nimic is something I would’ve loved to see as a full feature, as even in its brevity it’s still fascinating, but is ultimately too short to fully pull anything lasting from. Neat nonetheless.

  The Favourite is now I’d say quite firmly my second favorite Yorgos Lanthimos feature. Easily his most straightforward and “normal” film, but still bristling with his usual oddities, quirky (again often hilarious) dialogue, distinct cinematography choices and emotional underpinnings just lurking below the surface.   Of a series already leagues above it’s shoot-em-up peers, this one is perhaps one of America’s finest forays into beautiful carnage. An electric world in which blood is the true currency and friendship is both an incredible gift and tragic curse. Where everyone lives until death by gun, blade, arrow or fist do they part. John Wick: Chapter 4 reminds us of these heavy terms in ways the franchise hasn’t since the first. And it’s just fucking glorious.
