Volver 2006
Plot-wise, Volver feels like one of the densest Almodóvar films, and while that may seem like a potential negative from the start, the film, like the others of his I’ve seen, never short-changes any of its characters, giving them more than enough time and care to ensure that the ending is impactful. The cast of female characters presented here feels diverse and deeply connected amongst themselves, making for a very specific, emotionally comfortable dynamic that only Almodóvar can produce 🍮🔪

The Matrix Revolutions 2003
After mostly enjoying Reloaded, this was a pretty big letdown. While I respect the ambition of certain scenes, like the mech battle and upside-down shootout, they can’t hold this complete mess of film up.
