    On the one hand, this doc is likely to rile up the “comedians are the last truth tellers” club. There’s a scene where Chris Rock literally says that comics have replaced philosophers. And it can feel like the film’s thesis boils down to “be real,” which can seem a lot, in this case, like “be angry.”

    Enjoyed the first hour or so, then felt totally beat up and exhausted. Felt like someone saying “I LOOOOOVE YOOOOOUUUUU” in super slo-mo for the last 80 minutes. A classic case of “if everything is awesome, then nothing is.” Its flaws are summed up—I think—by the gential blurring during the butt plug fight.     I found this incredibly difficult to watch, for a few reasons.

    First: I had to reactivate my Netflix account, which was annoying.

    Second: Norm is probably my favourite comedian ever, and while I'm not the kind of person who habitually over-invests in the lives of celebrities, he meant a lot to me.
