John Hayes’s review published on Letterboxd:
APTLY TITLED. More voyeuristic, goth, joke laden, perverted, clumsy with its politics, comfortable in silence, and introspective than nearly any of these movies have been allowed to be since Burton touched them! Feels good to be back. Its approaching BTAS levels of concern for setting up Gotham as a festering ecosystem of other worldly characters and locations (mostly for the positive, for the negative in one big stinker of an instance right near the end), which lends it the hypnotizing benefit of having a deep bench of MVP supporting efforts, Wright being the most important of them all, somehow overplaying and underplaying the material while never acting like he's above it. This thing has only been out for like 72 hours and Dano is already underrated going full little freak mode lol.
