The final thirty minutes are a hoot, but all the minutes leading up to that point are … eh. The tone is much more self-consciously silly than Raiders, and it ends up being more loud than funny. And the gross-out scenes! Why so many?

I have nothing but respect for Steven Spielberg, but there are times when he tries way too hard to be ingratiating, and this might be Exhibit A.
