  Rodrick is only in ONE SCENE.

  
  The thing is that, a lot of stuff from the first book got cut out (in my opinion, to its benefit, because it makes this terrible adaptation shorter). But I feel like it’s because of Jeff Kinney’s newer sense of pacing; the first book took place over an entire school year, while the more recent books take shorter stretches of time.
