“Winning doesn’t always feel like winning, huh?”
    “Never has.”

I enjoyed learning about Kurt Warner because:
-Arena Football League is some crazy shit
-Record breaking career by an older, undrafted player
-I was 12 years old living near STL during Warner’s heyday
-I was also very into Anna Paquin around that time coincidentally!

This movie could have gone real dark and bleak and messed up, Foxcatcher style. I’m actually relieved it kept things at an emotional arms length, surface level.…

May the fourth be with you 💙
Enjoyed these 18 minutes more than most of the post-1999 releases! Star Wars could benefit from tranquilizing itself, as this proves.

Started watching for Lady Mary, and glad it picked up in the last couple episodes. I did not read the book, but I enjoy psychological thriller rubbish for sure- the dumber the twist the better for me, and this one didn’t disappoint in that regard. I’m sure it made more sense on paper lmao.
A couple things that bothered me- Mrs. Hughes from All Creatures Great and Small was a side character in episode 1 and then NEVER AGAIN. I…

I actually thought this was pretty exciting. It’s claustrophobic and labyrinthine, almost never giving an establishing shot of the building exteriors. Wish they leaned even harder into that- forget NY and Chicago- take me through a maze like Kowloon!

LOVED Bruce Wayne. He’s like the kind of blue blood aristocracy that physically suffers from their status. I could watch his anemic face forever. Shakespearean.

Did not dig him as Batman. Clung to the Bale era. Which is fine for Bale,…

I literally didn’t know this was a movie until the next episode didn’t auto play, and I went to manually hit “I’m still watching” and saw full on end credits. Trying to pivot my conception from background show like “Never Have I Ever” to understanding this is a film…. It’s pretty lacking in narrative arc, character development, world building, etc. Even thinking it was a show, it’s definitely lower than a lot of the other teen trash I enjoy.

Marc-Andre is the sweet, intelligent, radical (not in the 80s usage) answer to Alex from Free Solo. I love him and Brette. So inspirational how he overcame addictions and found pure vitality. 💜☮️

Hateful vision of the future much like Idiocracy- funny to see where the retail and chain restaurants went. Best part was the woke late-night comedian. The follow-up was not as good because it replayed a lot of the jokes.
I'm really not even familiar enough with three characters to get everything - I can still only ID cartwright and kenny. My favorite thing from these guys is Cannibal the Musical :)

Summer of Soul (...or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)

Traditionally organized, snappy doc that mixes hit songs, quick sound bites, historical context. It gets right to the point and never drags or does anything outside the norm- for better or worse. How can you not like seeing some of the top performers at their peak? And I also enjoyed the background behind artists I wasn’t very familiar with, like The Fifth Dimension.
Last night around 10pm, in my super quiet neighborhood filled with elderly people, someone played just a…

Gotta be one of the worst movies I’ve seen. The reviewer who talked about how this was not only fetishizing but also instructional regarding self harm- they were spot on. Very much tell me this was directed by a man without telling me…

Aside from that, the metaphors and were crude, and the score was too self aware. The costumes and makeup were good but who gives a shit, truly.

I think maybe I will give The Crown a shot. The one bright moment was seeing George Warleggan from Poldark again 🖤 excellent villain.

Needed some movie magic and it’s been at least 15 years since last viewing. Man have I grown up to be C-3PO. Was laughing so much! Love the speed of the dialogue and how they don’t slow pace to explain every little concept or location. Makes it so real. :)

Oscar nominated short film on HBO Max. Along the lines of Old Boy, Idiocracy, and Ready Player One. I like the point, and that it doesn't take longer than 18 minutes to do its thing. For having almost no people, it somehow manages to squeeze in a couple of racial stereotypes, though.
