After watching the hellspawn that is Michael Bay's Ambulance, I decided to watch a real Jake Gyllenhaal film, the first movie I saw him in, Donnie Darko. There's not much to say that hasn't been said before. It's a surrealist classic that is as timeless now as it ever has been. One of those movies you just have to experience. The funny thing is, I think this movie is getting better as years go by. The whole multiverse and superhero thing is now commonplace in the industry, but Donnie was ahead of the curve, showing us what it was all about back in 2001. If you haven't seen this one and are into surrealism, or you're a fan of Jake's and somehow missed it, then you should probably change that immediately.
