It's been, in my opinion, a fairly weak year in cinema last year, and I went into Barry Jenkins Moonlight, the highest rated movie on letterboxd this year, expecting to be blow away. This movie was very good. First two thirds were nearly perfect. Last third was good in that it was well made and well acted but just didn't fit well into the rest of the movie, I felt. Felt like I was missing an hour of action, or something. Like this should have been longer to really get to the core of its character.
