Double Indemnity

Double Indemnity ★★★★½

Yes, I killed him. I killed him for money, and for a woman. I didn't get the money, and I didn't get the woman. Funny, isn't it?

Imagine being that much of a smoking hot bombshell and having a name like Phyllis.

Deliciously wicked film noir, with the kind of classic set-up you can't help but love - a femme fatale and a smart-talking insurance agent scheme to bump off her no-good husband and collect the insurance. Delivered perfectly, with a razor-sharp screenplay and two fine leads to match.

I always like how, even within the conservative confines of the Hays Code, these kinds of movies still manage to feel slyly subversive - the letter of the law, but never the spirit. You love to watch these rotten scoundrels.

I, too, would ruin my entire life if she so much as glanced at me suggestively.
