Like all of Damien Chazelle’s films in my opinion, this is completely entertainment factor over any kind of emotional depth or meaning. I did enjoy Babylon, and it’s filled with fantastically made sequences with great performances (most notably a small, but welcome appearance from Toby Maguire). This movie is so insane I love it. They just don’t make them like this anymore. Owen Wilson is the mvp.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I feel like I haven’t really seen this because I was about 5 minutes late to my showing, watched the 20 minutes of set-up, fell asleep, and then woke up to John Leguizamo being brutally murdered and then the movie ended like it was for families to enjoy together. You’re gonna have to do better than this if you really wanna do another interpretation of this play. I don’t mind the idea of minimal set but you have to do something really interesting with it and have a reason for it. The whole thing just felt like people either sitting next to each other or standing next to each other and just ‘acting’ and saying the words. The performances were mostly fine, but nothing truly amazing and that’s about all this has to offer considering the simplicity of every other aspect.
