Scream ★★½

Alright, I'm sure I'll be hated for this now, but: Unfortunately, I didn't find "Scream" as good as I expected. I like the innovative idea, the many cross-references to other horror classics like "A Nightmare on Elm Street" or "Halloween", and the irony with which the film approaches the classic clichés of the horror genre and makes fun of them. Also, I have to admit that I knew who one of the killers was and that there were two of them, since I know the 2023 version. If I hadn't known that, the movie might have been more suspenseful.

But like this: I find the movie too long, especially the last 30 minutes, and the movie can't hold the suspense and falls into the same clichés it makes fun of and is so often quite predictable. Unfortunately, I started to get bored at some point.

Overall, not a bad film and a classic in terms of the idea alone, but I prefer the more modern versions here as I did with "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Halloween" and "Evil Dead".
