24 Hour Movie Marathon II: #1
Category: A character that shares your name (Jimmy).

+Excellent performances by Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, and Jesse Plemons.
+This film has so many memorable scenes, my favourite is when Hampton is first out of jail and he delivers a speech to the rest of the party. Kaluuya absolute nails it, he deserves best supporting actor without a doubt in my opinion. "Repeat after me, I am, a Revolutionary!"
+I loved the score, the track 'The Inflated Tear' is catchy.
+The story is incredibly impactful, having a split focus on the one hand showing Fred Hampton's role in the Black Panther Party, on the other O'Neal being a rat within the party- emotionally conflicted as he becomes invested.
+The finale is jaw dropping- the most shocking scene of 2021 so far. As the credits roll we gain further insight into the tragic lives of the people.
+The visuals and cinematography are brilliant.
-I wanted to see more from Kaluuya as Hampton on screen- he was just that good.

Overall- Judas and the Black Messiah is my favourite 2021 release so far.

DID YOU KNOW- The poisoning scene was filmed on the 50-year anniversary of its occurrence. Recalls Daniel Kaluuya, "To be doing that scene on that day, it was really heavy. It was really, really, really, really heavy and everyone felt it. We just knew it was a moment. We had a speech, said a couple of words, really thankful to be here and thankful for what Chairman Fred did for us to be here together. To honor him and to honor his words and bringing it to a wider audience. So that was a really heavy day. Even the stuff I was saying in that scene, the decision he makes in that scene, to say that on that day, was really heavy. I think if I did it another day I wouldn't be able to do it like I did it."
