    Secret Headquarters

Secret Headquarters is the kind of bad that makes me want to apologize to most modern blockbusters and Netflix originals for showing us what a bad superhero movie really looks like. But, then again, this is barely a superhero movie... this is more a throwback to kids-save-the-day movies... and those are owed an apology too.

Secret Headquarters theoretically stars Owen Wilson as discount Iron Man... but is really about how his thirteen year old son and his friends find his…

    13: The Musical

    ★★

I'm not sure why I kept watching this once I realized this Netflix musical was for and about middle schoolers. I'm not the target market but I once was a 13 year old (who didn't break out into song randomly) so I figured, hey, no harm, no foul. Prey borrows the premise from the original film but flips it. Instead of advanced '80s superheroes, the…

    Day Shift

    ★★★½

Day Shift is a new Netflix original that was all over the map. It started strong but then threatened to become a goofy buddy cop movie... and then exploded with exploding vampire gore and inventive kills, and then slowed down, and then made me laugh out loud. It's kind of a mess but I came away pretty entertained.

The flick stars Jamie Foxx as a pool cleaner / vampire hunter in Los Angeles with the unlikely name of Jablonsky (which…
