First Cow

First Cow ★★★★★

A slow but moving movie about two friends who meet in the wilderness of Oregon. The two, Cookie and King-Lu are both seemingly outcast from society and truly only have each other.

I loved this film, from the characters to the pacing and the setting. The film also has a great score that pushes the tale forward and keeps it interesting and sets the correct mood.

This story feels fresh and different from other films and it is able to tell a story of friendship and struggle through the lens of these two characters. My favorite aspect of the film is its use of visual storytelling and the number of shots that seem to linger on, showing off the great imagery of the woods. One of 2020’s best films so far.
