Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ★★★★½

Star Wars 40th Anniversary Hunt - A Space Opera

Going into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, my expectations were kept to a minimum. I was pumped to see the movie but didn't want to be disappointed because I blew my excitement out of proportion, and coming out of this movie, I'm so happy I did that because I loved this movie even more than I thought I would.

Don't get me wrong, there are a couple pacing issues, and it is a little all over the place, but I didn't care, because I was having an absolute blast watching some of my favorite characters in a comic book movie to date interact with each other.

The humor from the first is retained, and so are the amazing characters, who all have brilliant chemistry with one another. It's just as clever as its predecessor, if not, more so, and the directions Gunn takes these characters I found very emotionally fulfilling, even if I wasn't totally on board with Kurt Russell's character at first.

The villains are overall a little bland but do have a solid purpose, and provide for potentially awesome roles in future films.

As far as the action sequences go, I think they are better than the first, and much more fun to watch; and the soundtrack is really solid, even if it can't live up to the first movie's amazing soundtrack.

As a whole, I found Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be everything I wanted it to be and more, and I personally think it is just as good as the first, if not, even better; it's a little early to call.

I can't wait to see my favorite a-holes again.
