I always get something new out of this film everytime I watch it. But seeing it for the first time after being in relationships and knowing what it's like to go from that initial connection to something real and be hurt by & (however unintentionally) hurt someone you care about was a completely different experience. I noticed and understood certain elements and moments in a new light and it packed an even harder emotional punch (cried a lot).
Thought a lot this time too about how in many ways this is a story of meeting the right person at the wrong time, and just how painful that is for everyone involved, though still so hard to resist.
What a movie. Not a wasted moment or shot. And getting to see it in theatres again and on my birthday (with a Alamo Drafthouse kids cookie milkshake) was perfect.
